FSC COC

FSC COC-certified papers are papers with the share of fresh or primary fibre originating entirely or partially from timber grown in FSC-certified forests.

FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council and is committed to environmentally friendly, socially acceptable and economically feasible forest management. FSC is the only internationally valid label for sustainable timber management.

The COC-Zertifizierung (Chain of Custody) covers the entire chain of controllable timber utilization.

Climate-neutral printing

You have the opportunity of having your publications printed on a climate-neutral basis. You can offset the CO2 emissions that are unavoidably generated in production by supporting climate protection projects.
Support is provided exclusively through “Gold Standard” certificates. The Gold Standard has been developed by the WWF and other environmental organisations and guarantees that the funds are actually used for reducing emissions.

Premises

  • Environment-friendly construction, installations and equipment were all considered during initial planning.
  • Use of waste heat from the cooling plant to back up the heating system and to dehumidify the air in the production area.
  • Heating, which is done with environmentally friendly natural gas, is only needed when the exterior temperature drops to 4 °C.
  • Use of waste heat from compressors to heat water. No further energy is required.
  • By using natural cooling during the night (“draught” system) and automatic shutters, the office building can be kept cool even on hot days while using minimum amounts of energy.
  • Ammonia, the most environmentally friendly coolant, is used in the cooling plant.
  • Energy saving lighting is installed throughout.

  • Use of isopropyl alcohol has been reduced by two thirds in recent years.
  • VOC-free detergents are employed wherever possible.
  • Paper is sorted into printed and unprinted waste and recycled.
  • Cleaning cloths are washed and reused in the printery.
  • Used detergent is returned to the suppliers for disposal by professionals.
  • Printing inks are mainly based on raw materials that are self-replenishing.
